Event Waiver & Liability Release

Participating in golf and SCGC events involves inherent risk. This waiver explains those risks and outlines responsibilities for participants and SCGC.

Important

Please read before registering or participating.

By registering for or participating in any SCGC event (tournaments, scrambles, meetups, clinics, socials, and related activities), you acknowledge and agree to this Event Waiver & Liability Release (“Waiver”).

If you are registering a team, you are responsible for sharing this Waiver with your teammates.

Definitions

For clarity.

  • “SCGC” means Sun City Golf Collective, its owners, volunteers, contractors, sponsors, and representatives.
  • “Event” means any SCGC-run or SCGC-hosted activity, including pre-round and post-round activities.
  • “Participant” means any person who attends, plays, volunteers, spectates in a participant capacity, or is otherwise involved.

Assumption of risk

Golf has real risk — you accept it by participating.

You understand that participating in golf and related event activities involves inherent risks, including but not limited to: being struck by golf balls or clubs, collisions with carts, slips/falls, heat illness, dehydration, weather hazards, uneven terrain, insects/wildlife, equipment failure, and actions of other participants.

You voluntarily assume all risks of injury, illness, property damage, or loss arising from participation, including those caused by the actions of other participants, spectators, course conditions, or weather.

Health, fitness & personal responsibility

Know your limits and play safe.

  • You confirm you are physically able to participate and will stop if you feel unsafe or unwell.
  • You are responsible for hydration, sun protection, and managing your own health conditions.
  • If you need medical assistance, notify event staff or course staff immediately.

Rules, carts, alcohol & conduct

Respect the course, staff, and other groups.

  • You agree to follow all course rules, cart rules, pace-of-play expectations, and SCGC event rules.
  • Reckless behavior (including unsafe cart use) may result in removal from the event.
  • Alcohol is permitted only where allowed and must be consumed responsibly.
  • No harassment, fighting, or abusive conduct. SCGC may remove participants for serious misconduct.

Release of liability

You agree not to hold SCGC responsible for ordinary risks.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, you release and agree not to sue SCGC for any claims, liabilities, damages, or expenses arising out of participation in the Event, including claims for personal injury, illness, death, or property damage, except to the extent caused by SCGC’s gross negligence or willful misconduct where such limitation is not allowed.

Indemnification

If your actions create harm, you take responsibility.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless SCGC from any claims, damages, liabilities, costs, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your participation, your violation of event rules, or your negligent or wrongful acts during the Event.

Personal property

Bring valuables at your own risk.

You are responsible for your personal property (clubs, bags, rangefinders, phones, wallets, vehicles, etc.). SCGC is not responsible for theft, loss, or damage to personal property.

Weather, delays & event changes

Safety first — schedules can change.

SCGC may modify, delay, shorten, reschedule, or cancel an Event due to weather, course conditions, safety concerns, or operational needs. If changes occur, SCGC will communicate updates as reasonably possible.

Refunds/credits for cancellations are governed by our Refunds, Returns & Cancellations policy and the specific event page.

Photo & video release (optional but recommended)

Helps us share highlights and grow the community.

You grant SCGC permission to capture and use photos and video taken at the Event that may include your image/likeness for SCGC marketing, social media, and community content, without compensation.

If you have a concern about a specific photo/video, contact us and we’ll review removal requests in good faith.

Minors

Parent/guardian responsibility.

Participants under 18 must have a parent or legal guardian’s permission to participate. A parent/guardian may be required to sign additional documentation for certain events.

Acknowledgment

By participating, you agree.

By registering for or participating in an SCGC Event, you acknowledge that you have read and understood this Waiver and voluntarily agree to its terms.

This Waiver is intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by law. If any part is held invalid, the remaining parts will continue in full force.

This waiver may be updated. The version in effect at the time of the Event applies.
