Community Guidelines
SCGC is built for golfers — the vibes are welcoming, the talk is real, and the community stays respectful. These guidelines apply to our site, comments, posts, DMs, events, and any SCGC-run community spaces.
The short version
If you’re here in good faith, you’re good.
What we’re building
A modern golf community — welcoming, helpful, and fun.
Good vibes, good faith
SCGC is for golfers of all skill levels. Ask questions, share tips, organize tee times, post course updates, talk gear, and have fun. Assume good intent, especially with newer golfers.
Respect the game and the people
Keep it welcoming. Trash talk is fine when it’s clearly friendly and mutual — harassment isn’t. Treat course staff and fellow golfers with respect on and off the course.
Encouraged content
This is what SCGC is made for.
- Course conditions: greens, fairways, range status, pace-of-play tips
- Tee time coordination: finding a group, filling a spot, meetups
- Gear talk: what’s working, what to avoid, value picks
- Events: questions, recaps, photos, highlights (with consent)
- New golfer support: etiquette, rules, “what should I do?” threads
- Buy/Sell/Trade: honest listings, clear details, respectful negotiating
Not allowed
If it hurts the community, it’s out.
Harassment, hate, threats
- Personal attacks, bullying, intimidation, or targeted harassment
- Hate speech or discriminatory language
- Threats of violence or encouragement of harm
- Doxxing or sharing private information (names, addresses, phone numbers, employer, etc.)
Spam, scams, and manipulation
- Spam posts, repetitive comments, or bot-like behavior
- Scams, phishing, impersonation, or misleading links
- Fake giveaways, “DM me to win,” or suspicious payment requests
- Astroturfing (fake reviews/endorsements) or coordinated manipulation
Excessive self-promotion
Light promotion is okay when it’s genuinely helpful and relevant — but SCGC isn’t a free ad board. Repeated posting of your business, referral links, discount codes, or “book with me” posts may be removed.
Illegal or unsafe content
- Instructions or encouragement for illegal activity
- Dangerous behavior on-course (e.g., swinging near others, reckless play)
- Any content that puts people at risk
Buy / Sell / Trade rules
Keep it simple. Keep it honest.
- Listings must include clear photos, an honest description, and a price.
- No counterfeit items. No “mystery” listings.
- SCGC is not responsible for private transactions. Use good judgment.
- Disputes should be handled respectfully. If there’s a pattern of bad behavior, we may take action.
Event conduct
Our events are competitive, but the vibe stays solid.
- Respect players, staff, and the course.
- No aggressive behavior, harassment, or disrespectful conduct.
- No cheating, collusion, or knowingly breaking event rules to gain an advantage.
- Alcohol is allowed only where permitted — drunk/disruptive behavior isn’t.
- SCGC may remove participants from an event for serious violations.
Moderation & enforcement
We’re fair — but we protect the community.
What we may do
- Remove content (posts, comments, listings) that violates these guidelines
- Issue warnings or temporary restrictions
- Suspend or ban accounts for repeated or serious violations
- Remove a participant from an event in extreme cases
Context matters
We consider intent, severity, patterns of behavior, and community impact. We may take immediate action without warning for serious issues (threats, hate, scams, doxxing).
Appeals
If you think a moderation decision was a mistake, contact us with the details. We’ll review it.
Report a problem
Help us keep SCGC clean and welcoming.
- Include a link or screenshot of the content
- Share the username (if applicable) and what happened
- If there’s a safety concern, report it immediately
We can’t respond publicly to every report, but we do review them and act when needed.
These guidelines may be updated. Continued participation in SCGC community spaces means you agree to follow the latest version.
